Which tattoo designs look the best in black and white ink?
Also, are there any designs that really don’t look nice without color?
B&W doesn’t fade as badly as the other colours too, and it’s likely to have fewer ‘heavy metals’ too – which maybe part of your reasoning anyway?
Depending upon the overall size of the tattoo you’re planning, i’d suggest avoiding lots of thin lines, and the other extreme – few, big in-filled areas. The thin lines wont be so clear etc, and the larger areas will make you look like more like Lucky Diamond Rich (2nd source).
Where are you having it done? (Eg. bony or other sensitive areas?) This may affect your choice since more ink, equals more pain in there!
Remember it will usually be visible through a thin cotton shirt or whatever, which also may affect your choice?
